The Government of Punjab School Education Department (SED) has officially notified summer vacations for all public and private schools across Punjab province. The notification, signed by Secretary Muddasir Riaz Malik, was issued on 11 May 2026 and takes effect immediately.
Official Notification Details
The notification reference is SO(ACAD-I)1-31/2025, issued under the approval of the Competent Authority. It applies to all public and private schools throughout Punjab. All Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Education Authorities have been directed to ensure strict compliance.
What This Means for Students
The summer break this year runs approximately three months — from 22 May to 23 August. For students preparing for board exams, competitive tests, or skill development, this is the most critical window of the academic year.
- Board exam students: Use the break strategically — most Matric and Intermediate board results and supplementary exams fall in this window.
- University students: Note that this notification applies to schools, not universities — check your institution's academic calendar separately.
- Parents: Private schools cannot charge regular fees for vacation months as per Punjab rules — check your school's fee structure.
Use the Break Productively
Three months is a long window. Students who use it for skill-building, scholarship applications, internship prep, or even early career exploration come back in August significantly ahead. If you're in 1st or 2nd year of university, this is the right time to build the CV baseline that will matter in 3rd and 4th year.
